Halong Bay
What?
Halong Bay was made a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1994 and rightly so. The area is a seascape dotted with nearly 2000 limescale or schitz islands. These tiny islands are dotted with beaches and grottoes created by wind and waves and have sparsely forested slopes.
Where?
Situated in the North-East region of Vietnam, Halong Bay is a bay in the Gulf of Tonkin. It is approximately 1200kms from Hanoi.
When?
Winter lasts from around November to April, quite cool and wet, and the hot summer runs from May to October.
Who?
The travellers who come to Halong Bay, a beautiful and slower paced destination, are either usually finishing their trips round Vietnam or have come to specifically explores the caves and grottos, hike through the Cat Ba National Park but all have come to soak up the natural splendour of the area.
Why?
Hike through the Cat Ba National park and see if you can spot the world’s most endangered primate- golden-headed langur or any of the other thrity types of mammals that can be found here.
Kayak your way through the waterways and paddle through a maze of islets amid dramatic natural scenery.
Marvel at nature’s art by journeying into caves filled with stalactites, stalagmites and pool’s of crystal clear water.
